He was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Portland, Ore., to John Ray and Edith Mae Lynch Kinder. He was a camera technician for many years before he retired. He lived in Oregon before he moved to Lawrence 12 years ago. He was a member of North Lawrence Christian Church. He married Mavis Berreth on Nov. 4, 1950, in Portland, Ore. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Valorie Blasingame, Paula Killough and Michelle Terry, all in Lawrence; a sister, Altha Jean Whalen, Portland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Cremation is planned. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
