aniel J. Kautzman, 76, Bismarck, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 22, 2012, Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, at 11:30 AM at Church of St. Anne in Bismarck with Rev. Ed Wehner and Rev. Jerome Kautzman officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at ND Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 26, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary/vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Dan was born March 3, 1936, to George H. and Rose (Wetsch) Kautzman at their farm near Blue Grass, ND. When Dan was seven years old they moved to a farm SE of New Salem. He attended Spring Valley School #2 and graduated from New Salem High School in 1955. Dan attended Carroll College in Helena, MT. After serving in the US Army for two years, he started his 37 years with JC Penney in Bismarck. When Dan retired in 1998, he then started his 2nd career working in the Commissary at Fort Lincoln State Park. Dan found his true calling at Fort Lincoln, doing what he loved best, talking about North Dakota and all the wonderful things this state has to offer. Dan married Patricia Klug on February 4, 1961. They were married 51 years and had four children and seven grandchildren. His major interests in life were his family, Celtic music, and following his favorite sports teams. They included the New Salem Holsteins, St Mary's Saints, U of Mary Marauders, The Bismarck Knight's, and of course, the Vikings. Dan is survived by his wife Patricia; his children, Amy (Kim Nalder) Kautzman, Sacramento, CA; Gwen Kautzman and her children, Bailey and Jefferson White, Bismarck; Matthew (Stacey) Kautzman and their children, Nicholas and Zoe, Rock Springs, WY; and Colleen (Mitch) Heiden, and their children, Ray, Daniel, and Erin, Bismarck. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Stein, Mandan; his brothers, Joe, New Salem, Father Jerome, Bismarck, Tom, Fargo, and George (Phyllis), Mandan; his aunts, Tillie Koch, Mandan, and Lois Wetsch, Killdeer; his in-laws, Sister Stella Olson, Fargo, Ken (Debbie) Klug, Bismarck, Linda Weller, Nadine (Nick) Ressler, Rita Klug, and Delores Klug, all of Mandan; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding Dan were his parents; infant brother; brothers-in-law, Daniel Stein, Ralph Klug, and Mike Klug; and sisters-in-law, Katherine Kautzman and Geraldine Klug. The family would like to thank all of Dan's friends, relatives and former co-workers who over the years have always asked about Dan. Special thanks to his very good friends, Ken and Donna Roethler, Jim and Bernice Famias, and Abdullah and Barivon Ali.
