  [S927] Obituary. O'CONNELL Arthur James Arthur James O'Connell, 96, of LaSalle, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in his home. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie in state at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Church, Monroe with a Mass celebrating his life at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born October 26, 1915, in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Timothy and Theresa (Bernhardt) O'Connell. He married Doris M. Theis February 4, 1950, at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Toledo. He worked for the Chessie Railroad System in Walbridge, Ohio until retiring in 1978. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris O'Connell of LaSalle; a son, William M. O'Connell; three daughters, Rose Marie Case, Mary E. O'Connell, Carol A. (Pat) Miller; brother, Timothy W. (Terry) O'Connell; a sister, Kathleen E. Schlachter; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, David Miller and a sister, Margaret J. Reed.
