Jerry Gene Bender, 73, Surrey, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in a Minot hospital.
Jerry was born Sept. 8, 1941, in Chaseley, North Dakota, the son of William and Sarah (Kleinsasser) Bender. He was raised on the family farm near Chaseley and educated at country schools in that area.
Throughout the years Jerry was employed as an over the road trucker, working for Land O Lakes and Cenex for over 35 years.
Family meant the world to Jerry. He loved spending Sunday’s and holidays cooking for family activities. He loved to fish and hunt along with playing pool in a league at the KC Club, along with a game of cribbage. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, and had a special interest in watching his cousin Jim Kleinsasser play during his tenure with the Vikings. He enjoyed watching Western movies and listening to Charlie Pride and Elvis music. He took his dog and best friend, Yorkie, along with him wherever he went.
Jerry’s loving family includes: children, Derinda (Steve) Gulbranson, Minot, LeAnn (Kevin) Hanson, Surrey, Mandy Bender, Surrey; grandchildren, Jessica (Reid) Plesuk, Sara Hanson, Miranda Gulbranson, Nicole LeVallie and Wyatt Kidney; great-grandchildren, Reese and Rylan Plesuk and Warren LeVallie; sister, Esther Brandt, Lodi, Calif.
Jerry was preceded in death by: his parents; great-granddaughter, Jersey Plesuk; sister, Mary Muscha; along with two brothers.
Funeral: 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, June 9, 2015, in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, in Hope Cemetery, rural Chaseley.
Visitation was: Monday, June 8, in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
