Scherer, 82, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Legacy House. He was born December 25, 1925 in Bridgeport, ILL. He moved here in November of 1959 from Seymour, IN. Mr. Scherer was a retired Farmer and Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard, and the Peace Lutheran Church in Dunnellon. He also enjoyed gardening. Mr. Scherer is survived by his wife Erma of 55 years who resides in Dunnellon, sons Neal Scherer of Morriston and Clay Scherer of Dunnellon, daughter Gail Schmidt of Eustis, brother Kenneth Scherer of Columbus, IN., sisters Betty Cook of Trinity, TX., Pauline Purcell of Bridgeport, ILL., five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Scott Scherer, daughters Phyllis Albury, Page Scherer, and a grandson Michael Scott Albury. A Memorial Service will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church at 7201 S. US Hwy 41, Dunnellon on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M.
