Young, 84, of Ravenna, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. He was born Oct. 27, 1920, in Newton Falls, Ohio, to the late Ralph M. and Lottie (Neighbour) Young. Mr. Young worked as a weapons inspector for the U.S. Government, and was a founding member of the Ravenna Boat Club and the 10 High Club in Punxsutawney, Pa. He also belonged to the Ravenna Elks and Ravenna V.F.W. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 411th AAA Gun Battalion. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ruth (Hudson); daughters, Christine (Young) Copeland and Deborah Young, both of Akron; and grandson, Matthew Comernisky. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Shorts Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, with Reverend Edward Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, 609 W. Main St., Ravenna, Ohio 44266. (Shorts, 330-296-6858.)
