Peter was born in Strasburg on June 29, 1923, to John and Maria (Geilfus) Baumgartner. He was raised there and later moved to Milwaukee where he and Ludmilla raised their family. Ludmilla was born in Flasher on March 23, 1931, to Liberous and Frances (Schmidt) Friesz. She was raised there and later moved to Milwaukee where she and Peter raised their family. They were married Jan. 27, 1953, and spent 53 years together. Survivors include their children, David Baumgartner of Palm Springs, Calif., Karen (Les) Vitous of Milwaukee, Daniel Baumgartner of Palm Springs, Calif.; three granddaughters, Angela, Crystal and Michelle Vitous of Milwaukee. Ludmilla is also survived by one brother, Bob (Rose, Friesz of Bismarck and one sister, Leona Jaton of Red Bluff, Calif. Funeral services for Peter Baumgartner were held Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, and services for Ludmilla Baumgartner were held Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Burial for the couple was in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.
