Kessmann, 42, of 701 Henry street died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph hospital, Alton, where she had been a patient for the past four weeks. She was born Jan. 29, 1912 at Edwardsville, the daughter of the late Louis and Bertha Schmidt. She was married to Edward Kessmann Sept. 3, 1932 in Edwardsville. Surviving besides her husband are five sons, Richard Kessmann, who is stationed at Ft. Riley, Kan., Ronald, Robert, Donald and Terrence Kessmann of Edwardsville; three daughters, Shirley Ann, Sharon Marie and Debra Marie, of Edwardsville; five brothers, Louis Schmidt, Highland, Ind., Wilbur Schmidt, Hammond, Ind., Eugene and Raymond Schmidt, Edwardsville, Ollie Schmidt, Wood River; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Callahan, Wood River, and Mrs. Evelyn Burris, Colorado Springs, Colo. She was preceded in death by one son, one brother, Walter Schmidt; one sister and one daughter, Mary Katherine, who died Aug. 23, 1954. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic church. Friends may call at the Weber funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from the St. Boniface Catholic church with the Rev. George Faller officiating. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday and all members of the Altar society are requested to be present. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Orville Schiebe, Dwight Wade, Leonard Halbe, Louis Perini Jr., Roy Kolesa and Clifford Schmidt.
