"Betty" Cline, 95, of Terre Haute died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, in Hospice North in Cape Coral, Fla. She had worked as a private duty nurse, as a nurse in the hospital during World War II, and retired in 1972, from Olin Industries as part of the nursing staff. She was born Sept. 3, 1910, in Washington, Ind., to Stephen G. Effinger and Pearl R. Hill Effinger. Her husband, George Cline, died in 1977. Survivors include two sisters, Martha Jane Oltean of Terre Haute, and Margot Ann Grandidier of Fort Myers, Fla.; nieces and nephews, Stephen Elmerick, Vicki Bailey, Cathy Cooper, Margaret Stearns, Elizabeth Pelkey and Virginia Schuster; special friend, Jo Brewer of Florida; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Catherine Elmerick. She was a 1928 graduate of Wiley High School, and a 1932 graduate of Union Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Florence Nightingale's. Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with the Rev. Cyndi Alte officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 1 p.m. until services Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
