Birth: May 7, 1832, Germany Death: Apr. 25, 1907 Posey County Indiana, USA Poseville News dated May 17, 1907: Death has again visited us and on Thursday, April 25th, at 7 o'clock p.m. dear mother was called away from us to answer the call. Mrs. Elizabeth Kimmerling was born May 7th, 1832, in Permasens, Rhinefolz, Germany; was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Schafer. On Sept. 15th, 1851, was united in marriage to Carl Kemmerling, and with one child, Charley, they came to America. They first settled at Stewartsville, then later moved near New Harmony. She is one who was rocked in the cradle over the deep blue sea. She was well known and was king and loving to all. She was always called Grandma, and it was her delight to have her family circle with her. Till last year she was in such poor health her sufferings were untold. She was Grandma to 29 living grand children and 23 great-grand children, and the mother of 14 children, seven living -- four sons and three daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Henry Mann, died about 14 years ago. Those living are all grown and have families, Charles, Henry, Jacob, Fred, Mrs. Charles Rickens, Mrs. Annie Schettler, Mrs. John L. Stallings. Her remains were taken to Stewartsville. Services were held at the church and the remains laid to rest by the side of her husband.
