Birth: Jul. 8, 1927 Marion LaMoure County North Dakota, USA Death: Jan. 30, 2016 Hewitt Todd County Minnesota, USA The funeral service for Gladys Wanner, of Hewitt will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 5th, at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena, with Pastor Del Moen presiding. Friends may call at the Chapel one hour prior to the service. Gladys passed away at the age of 88 at her home. Gladys Margaret Wanner was born to Ole Alfred and Gena L. (Fragodt) Hanson near Marion, ND, on July 8, 1927. She went to country school at Black Loam #4 in Ransom County, ND. She married Alvin Wanner on November 25, 1949, at Fort Ransom, ND. They were happily married for 57 years until his death in 2006. They spent their early life together in the Verona and Lisbon areas in ND. They settled on a farm by Deer Creek and spent 49 years there. Gladys continued to spend another 9 years on the farm after Alvin passed. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Wadena, until its’ closing. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, and canning the fruits of her labor. When she wasn’t in the garden, she expressed her creative talent through crocheting, embroidery or rosemaling. She enjoyed a good word search puzzle until her eye sight diminished. Alvin and Gladys enjoyed having their granddaughters come spend time with them. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents, Ole and Gena; brothers, Albert, Ludvig, Oscar, and Clifford; and sisters, Mabel Kaupang and Doris Motl. Gladys is survived by her children Shirley (Ed) Pauna of Ottertail and Gary (Diane) Wanner of New York Mills; grandchildren, Melissa Pauna, Kristi Wanner, Kimberly Rose, Erica (Frankie) Zerr, Dena Wanner and Jackie Englund; 7 great-grandchilden; sister, Ruby (Sid) Peterson of Litchfield and brother, Orville (Alice) Hanson of Lisbon, ND. Pallbearers will be Gladys’ granddaughters Melissa Pauna, Kristi Wanner, Kimberly Rose, Erica Zerr, Dena Wanner, and Jackie Englund. Interment will be at Compton Cemetery, Otter Tail County, MN.
