Elizabeth "Betty" Stephens, 86, passed away on April 9, 2015 at Morningstar Assisted Living in Littleton, Colo.
She was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Charleston, the daughter of the late Dr. Everett H. and Mary Belle Starcher.
She was married to the late Earl C. Stephens of Parkersburg for 48 years. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in architecture. A longtime resident of Parkersburg, she and her husband practiced architecture in the Mid-Ohio Valley for nearly 30 years and both were long time members of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player, loved to travel and was an active supporter of numerous humanitarian and environmental organizations.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Eugenia Dansereau.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey E. Stephens of Littleton and Samuel E. Stephens of Madison, Ala., and her grandchildren, Neil A. Stephens, Gregory M. Stephens and Bradley C. Stephens of Littleton, Colo., and Laura C. Stephens of Madison, Ala.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. A graveside service will be held noon Wednesday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
