Page 4DEATH FROM AN ACCIDENTJacob Brayer, a well-known carpenter, aged fifty-four years, and a resident at 248 Jay street, died at 11 a. m. yesterday, from injuries sustained in an accident received at the Co-operative foundry, Hill street, Monday noon. He was at work with a buzz-saw in the foundry carpenter shop. A large portion of the chunk of wood he held split off and was thrown with very great violence against the pit of his stomach. After bounding off from his body the chunk split quite a piece of a shelf near him. This gives an idea of the great force with which it was thrown. Mr. Brayer was taken home. Dr. Jones and other physicians attended him, but he died yesterday, as stated. The funeral will take place at 8 a. m. to-morrow, at the Holy Family church, Jay street. Deceased was the father of Nicholas Brayer, school commissioner from the eleventh ward, and a brother of the superintendent of the foundry in which he worked. The surviving relatives have the sympathy of many warm friends.added by Gale Olsson McHale
