Ray A. Nist, 75, Ravenna, OH
Ray A. Nist, 75, of Ravenna, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna.
Born May 8, 1925 in Canton, he was the son of Raymond and Helen (Snow) Nist. He had lived in Canton before moving to Ravenna in 1988. Mr. Nist was co-owner of Kent Lighting Center and retired in 1995. He had been in the electrical business for 50 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member and Elder of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton, a member of Masonic Lodge A. & F.M. No. 60 of Canton and the Kent Lions Club and was a volunteer for Portage County Hospice.
Survivors include his wife, Blodwyn (Boyer), to whom he was married for 56 years; daughters, Paula (Robert) Smethers, Christine (C.S.) Testa, Roberta (Steven) Stocker and Janet (Larry) Nicol; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Eylene (Charles) Cobb, Mary (Andy) Boomhower and Patricia Boomhower.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to a 2 p.m. memorial service Friday at Christ Presbyterian Church, 530 Tuscarawas Ave. in Canton. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are being handled by Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel.
