He was the 2nd husband of Mabel (O'Hara) Brown Nist. Obituary The Johnsonburg Press January 8, 1970 NIST.--Requiem Mass for Edward J. Nist, age 63, of Klondike was solemnized Tuesday, December 30, in Holy Rosary Church. Interment was in Wardvale Cemetery under the direction of the Ubel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Harry Bedford, Kenneth Watson, Fred Habicht, James Van Alstine, Arnold Bowser and Edward Baum, Jr. He died in the Ridgway Hospital Friday evening after he became ill suddenly at home. Mr. Nist was born on September 6, 1906, in Johnsonburg, and was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Geitner Nist. He was a lifelong resident of Johnsonburg. He was the manager of the State Liquor Store on Market Street and was employed there for over 25 years. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church and the Mountain Rangers Emergency CB Club. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Brechtel, Johnsonburg, and Theresia, Mrs. Leonard Nolan, St. Marys, and one brother, Frederick, Wooster, Massachusetts. His wife, the former Mabel (O'Hara) Brown died February 20, 1963.
