Frank Dillman, 71, Mandan, died July 16, 2004, at his home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 19, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Parkway Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born March 4, 1933, and raised on a farm north of Walker, S.D. He was the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Leingang) Dillman. He attended school in Selfridge.
On Feb. 8, 1954, he married Helen Volk at St. Gertrude's Church, Raleigh. They lived and farmed for the first four years of their marriage on his parents' farm north of Walker. In 1958, they moved south of St. Gertrude's where they farmed and ran a dairy operation. They had four children, Janet, Janice, Frank Jr. and Julie.
In 1986, they moved to Mandan. Frank worked for Farmers Livestock Market and Kist Livestock for the first few years and then worked at the University of Mary for eight years, until he was unable to work due to complications from many years of diabetes.
He enjoyed dancing, listening to old time music and most of all spending time with his family. He had a strong work ethic and worked very hard all his life.
Frank is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Harley Halvorson, Turtle Lake, Janice and John Tishmack, Mandan, and Julie and Bill Mulvaney, Huron, S.D.; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sandie Dillman, Grassy Butte; 12 grandchildren, Carrie, Robert and Mandi Wagner, Cassie and Benji Podoll, Frankie, Becky, Annie, Abe and Sam Dillman, and Kasey and Billy Mulvaney; two great-grandchildren, Ty Bondy and Mallory Podoll; and three brothers, Simon and Leo, both of Mandan, and Tony, Lead, S.D.
He is preceded in death by granddaughter, Elizabeth Dillman; his son-in-law Donald Wagner; his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
