Birth: Oct. 16, 1934 Scandia Washington County Minnesota, USA Death: Mar. 14, 2011 Lindstrom Chisago County Minnesota, USA Pete Sandgren, a lifelong resident of the Chisago Lakes Area, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at his home in Lindstrom. He was 76 years old. Pete was born on October 16, 1934 in Scandia. He graduated from Chisago City High School with the class of 1952. Pete served in Korea for two years as a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army. Pete and Carol (Nelson) were married at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in 1960. They raised their family in Center City and retired in Lindstrom. As a young man Pete played basketball, baseball, and fast pitch softball. Later, he bowled locally and competed in tournaments with his friends. Pete was an avid gardener: potatoes were his favorite crop! He was especially proud of his grandchildren and found great joy cheering for them from the bleachers. Pete is survived by his wife Carol; his son Jeff and wife Lisa Sandgren and their children Joel, Sarah, Naomi, and Rebekah; his son Steve and wife Betsy and their children Rob, Dan, Mark, and Jake; his daughter Sheri and husband Tom and their children Pete (Tanya and great-granddaughter Finley), Bobby, Andrew, and Ann; siblings Mick (Warren) Fedje, Donna White, and Jack (Carol) Sandgren and other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. Visitation: Visitation 4-7 PM Friday, March 18 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Service: Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Cemetery: Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
