- We are researching the life of my wife's great-grandfather, Mr.
George Schuetz, who married Minnie Myrtle Preece in Jefferson, Iowa
on June 2, 1904. The Minister was E.W.F. Reoma (sp?) and the
witnesses were Elmer and Elizabeth Dolton (Minnie's sister and
brother-in-law). They had a daughter named Louise Elizabeth born
in Feb. 1905.
The Preece family was from Toledo, Ohio, so we suspect that George
Schuetz came from the Jefferson, Iowa area. He was believed to
have been a railroad man and may, as well, been connected to a
family by the name of Ochsner (also of Toledo). George, Minnie and
their daughter moved to Canada with the entire Preece family
(Minnie's Father's name was John Preece) in March 1905.
George seperated from the family following the death of John Preece
in 1906 and may have returned to the United States. He was rumored
to have died in a railroad accident. This would have been during
the time 1908-1914.
If you have any information concerning these people or can give us
any suggestions as to directions of future research, please reply
by return e-mail. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
