Mapleton Press 22 October 1992 Frank William Burkhart, 88, of Rodney, Iowa, died Thursday, October 15, 1992 at his residence. He was born March 29, 1904, at Holly Springs, Iowa, to John and Louise Rose Burkhart. On July 10, 1928, he married Nettie Garved in Sioux City. She died January 1, 1980 at Sioux City. He had lived at Smithland. Iowa, and for the last 64 years he had lived and farmed in the Rodney area. Survivors include: 3 daughters and their husbands, Joan and Russell Miller of Schleswig, Iowa, Virginia and Guy Oregon and Sandra and Bob Linscott, all of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 1992 at the Rodney United Church of Christ with Rev. Gary DeGeest officiating. Mrs. Ellen Harbeck was the organist. Casket bearers were David Hansen, Donovan Hansen Dirk Hansen, Darwin Hanson, Max Smith and Jan "Puncher" Hewitt. Interment was in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa, with arrangements by the Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa. [S637] Iowa Marriages 1809 - 1992.
