  [S927] Obituary. Lydia Martha Emler, 91, passed away at her home in Lodi, CA, on April 12, 2014. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 3, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Parkway Funeral Service. Lydia was born on July 21, 1922, in rural Braddock, ND, the first born child to Phillip and Emma (Preszler) Merkel. Lydia married Harold Clinton Emler on November 25, 1948. The couple lived most of their married life in San Jose and Morgan Hill, CA, and settling in Lodi, CA, in 1990. Lydia worked for many years for the County of Santa Clara in California. Lydia is survived by her sister, Irene Kleppe, Napoleon, ND; her sister-in-law, Bessie Merkel of Mobridge, SD; her brother-in-law, Richard Emler of Fresno, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
