PEKIN - Elmer E. Brees, 79, of 1210 S. 10th St. died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Pekin Manor.
Born Oct. 26, 1922, in Pekin to Roy A. and Velva Wheeler Brees, he married Mary Katherine Pollman on Oct. 1, 1944, in Pekin. She died June 15, 1999.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Victoria Coon of Pekin; one son, Gerald (and Colleen) of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Irvan (and Betty) of Pekin and Walter (and Ira) of Charleston, S.C.
He worked for Sherex Chemical Plant in Mapleton for 21 years, retiring in February 1985.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pekin, where a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Robert Scott will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes before services at the church. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements are by NoelHenderson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church building fund.
