Leroy L. Trudgen, 85, of Kingston, passed away Friday morning at Manor Care Health Services, Kingston.
Born in Kingston on August 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Richard J. and Lillian Knell Trudgen. A U.S. Army veteran, Leroy served his country honorably during World War II, with the 672nd Anti Aircraft Artillery Battery in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Prior to his retirement, Leroy worked for Reilly Plating Company, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Dorranceton United Methodist Church, Kingston. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Leroy enjoyed traveling with his family and gardening. He had a great passion for growing all types of roses.
He is survived by his wife, the former Peggy A. Kropp. Together, the couple celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 2, 2008. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Floyd and Phillip Pope, and Leslie and Richard Trudgen; sister, Betty Nero.
In addition to his loving wife, Peggy, Leroy is survived by his son, Lee and his wife, Ruby Trudgen, Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, April Lyn Oatridge and her husband, Robert, Dallas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, George Trudgen and his wife, Cathy, Dallas, Kenneth Trudgen and his wife, Roberta, Courtdale; sister, Helen Lewis and her husband, Bryce, Dallas.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Beth Jones, pastor of the Dorranceton United Methodist Church, officiating.
