Walter, 90, who leaves 88 direct descendants, died Monday morning at his home here after illness of one week. Native of Ohio, but resident here since childhood. Walter was born 27 July 1858 at Meltonburg, Ohio, son of Jacob and Margaret Walter. moved to Ancell at early age and became farmer in nearby community, coming to town to reside upon his retirement 20 years ago.Married August(a) Sander, who passed away in 1906. In 1917 he married Mrs. Nettie Ash of Ancell. she survives, as do three sons and two daughters from first marriage.Sons are Wm. Walter of Ancell, Otto Walter of Commerce and Albert Walter of St. Louis. Daughters are Mrs. Eliz. Hillemann of Colton, Calif., and Mrs. Emma Miller of Gray's Point. Also surviving are Step-dau., Mrs. Bertha Miller of Ancell; three sisters, Mrs. Lena Roth and Mrs. Louis Geltmacher of Cape and Mrs. Emma Hamburger of St. Louis; brother, Louis Walter of St. Louis, 30 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren.Body to Bisplingoff [funeral home] at Illmo. funeral from Illmo Lutheran ChurchWednesday. burial in church cemetery.
