Timothy J. Hoffman, Jr., 64, Mandan, died October 19, 2008, at his home, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM.
Timothy was born on January 2, 1944, in Fort Yates, ND, the son of Tim and Katie (Kary) Hoffman. He graduated from Fort Yates High School in 1962 and from Wahpeton State College in 1964.
Tim started his career in Deadwood, SD, as a sheet metal worker. He then worked for Mandan Sheet Metal for many years and at Central Mechanical for the last fourteen years as a mechanical estimator.
He married DeLores Oster in 1965; together they had one son, Timothy. He married Dorothy Freitag in 1984. Tim then married Dorothy Kempel in 1994.
Tim was a happy guy and always willing to help anyone that needed a helping hand. He did a lot of camping and fishing in his earlier years and loved to get together with family. His grandkids were a great source of enjoyment to him. Tim and his wife, Dorothy, loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas and Mexico, and enjoyed trips to the casino.
Tim is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Mandan; his son, Tim (Juanita) Hoffman of Mandan; two step-sons, Eric (Kristen) Kempel of Bismarck, and Bruce Zimny of Deadwood, SD; one step-daughter, Lisa (John) Boehm of Bismarck; nine grandchildren, Payge and Drew Kempel of Bismarck, Jaden Zimny of Deadwood, SD, Shandel, Shastity, and Shalyn Boehm, Jesse Himmelspach, Amanda (Bryce) Shippen, all of Bismarck, and Justin Himmelspach (Vanessa Barton) of Mandan; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Sollin, Sydney Shippen, and Dawson Himmelspach; three sisters, Eleanor Horning of Bismarck, Agnes (Joe) Heck of Baker, OR, and Ann (Ray) Ternes of Portland, OR; one sister-in-law, Irene Hoffman of Bismarck; three brothers, Steve (Catherine) of Aberdeen, SD, Harold (Lila) of Fargo, and Alfred (Marlene) of Mandan; his mother and father-in-law, Leo and Martha Jahner of Linton; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Richard) Heidrich of Mandan and Cindy (Tom) Nolz of Bismarck; three brothers-in-law, Leo (Pam) Jahner of Bismarck, Tim Jahner and Tom Jahner, both of Sebastian, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Freitag Hoffman; and his brothers, Ed and Ben.
