Evansville, Ind.— Evelyn (Walther) Worman, 92, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, at Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind. She was born October 21, 1918, in Evansville, Ind.
She was a life-long member of Memorial Baptist Church, where for many years she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and was an active member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a woman of unwavering faith, and her strong religious foundation served as the guiding beacon for her long and beautiful life, and that of her family. Evelyn spent her entire life in the career that she loved; homemaker, caring for her husband and family, and she excelled in it. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a truly loving and generous lady while serving as a strong and silent inspiration to all who knew her, including her friends at Solarbron where she spent the last 11 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar; sister, Loretta Hollingsworth; brothers, John and Elmer Walther.
Evelyn is survived by her three daughters; Mary Ann Wasson (Dave), Joyce Hubbard (Mark), of Evansville, and Kathy Yancey (Joe), of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Scott Wasson (Robin), Cindy Garrett (Monte), Brent Wasson, Brian Wasson, Rick Yancey, Brad Yancey, Andy Hubbard (Francie), Ryan Hubbard (Laura), Adam Hubbard (Amie); 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Walther.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Memorial Baptist Church, 7801 Marx Rd, 47720, officiated by Rev. Bobby Cox, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church.
