The funeral for Albert M. Klein of LaMoure, ND, will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure, ND, with Reverend Roy Noel officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure, ND. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery near LaMoure.
Albert Mathias Klein, son of Mathias and Elizabeth (Merkel) Klein was born September 7, 1914 in Dean Township, in LaMoure County where he grew up and attended country school through the eighth grade. Albert farmed in the area, until he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to the LaMoure area and continued to farm. He married Hulda Satreaas on November 19, 1950 at High Prairie Lutheran Church, near LaMoure. Albert retired from farming in 1972. He worked on constructing the Omega Tower near LaMoure, and then at Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota for ten years until his retirement. Hulda passed away on January 25, 2002. In May 2009, Albert became a resident of the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure.
Albert was a 50-year member of Zoar Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and an Army Veteran of World War II. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs. He had a passion for auction sales, a good western and Moline equipment. He always had a story to tell and loved to visit. He brought a smile to almost anyone he met making him a staff favorite at St. Rose Care Center. Al's caring nature was seen by the care of Hulda as her health declined in later years.
Albert passed away Monday, August 30, 2011, at the Oakes Community Hospital, Oakes, North Dakota. He was 96 years old.
He is survived by three sons, Bruce (Crystal) Klein, LaMoure, ND, Dr. Dale (Debbie) Klein, Mandan, ND, and Gary (Sheila) Klein, LaMoure, ND; a sister-in-law, Edna Satreaas, Verona, ND; eight grandchildren, Elling (Julie), Jeremy, Blake (Cathal McCabe), Kristy (Paul) Catalano, Nicole (Brandon) Balkowitsch, Eric (Jen Goettle), Reece, and Casey (Heather Coleman); and eight great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brett Hample, Weston Klein, Alex, Andrew, Thomas, Lauren Catalano, and Kadyn Balkowitsch. His parents, his wife, Hulda, four brothers, and eight sisters preceded him in death.
