William was a first generation born in the United States, as both his parents were German born. At the age of 23 or so, William married a much younger Clara Schaffner. She died just two days after giving birth to their daughter, Evelyn. William's mother took care of the baby while he got his bearings back. William married a woman named Lora Bergman, and had a daughter (Dorothy) with her. At the age of 45, William died. At the time of his death, he was an auto salesman. William was survived by his two daughters (Evelyn and Dorothy) and his second wife, Lora. He is resting at Lakewood Cemetery.
