August "Hefty" Eberle
Hague, N.D. -- August "Hefty" Eberle, 71, of Hague died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck,
N.D.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Hague. The Rev. Leonard Eckroth will officiate.
Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at Mandan, N.D.,
with military honors by the Linton American Legion and the Strasburg
Veterans of Foreign Wars. Myers Funeral Home of Linton, N.D., is in
charge of arrangements.
There will be a prayer service at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home in Linton.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home in Linton and for one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church in Hague.
August "Hefty" Eberle was born May 30, 1928, to Joseph and Magdalena
(Wolf) Eberle in Hague. He grew up in the Hague area and attended Hague High School.
He married Marietta Keller on Oct. 23, 1950, at St. Mary's Catholic
Church in Hague. During the Korean Conflict, from 1950 to 1952, he
served as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army. After his discharge in
1952, he returned to Hague, where he started a bulk oil and fuel dealership first with Skelly Oil and later with Conoco. He semi-retired in 1990. He also operated Hefty's Sales and Service,
specializing in appliances, snowmobiles, lawn and garden equipment, heating and cooling.
He enjoyed riding, repairing and selling snowmobiles, gardening, hunting
and fishing. He was known as the bubble gum man for giving gum to children.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a trustee and board member.
Survivors include his wife of Hague; seven sons, Dale (Barbara) Eberle,
Dean (Sue) Eberle, Doran Eberle, Douglas Eberle and Darrel Eberle, all of
Bismarck, N.D., DeLonce (Lunette) Eberle of Hazen, N.D., and David (Jane) Eberle of Washburn, N.D.; one daughter, Darlene
(Ken) Weigel of Bismarck; three brothers, Andrew Eberle and Adam Eberle, both of
Hague, and John Eberle of Bloomer, Wis.; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.
Casketbearers will be Tom Eberle, Don Eberle, Rocky Eberle, Andy Lee Eberle, Brian Keller and Kenneth Keller.
