- [S927] Obituary.
Feb. 2, 1922 July 8, 2013
Ross Kroessin, 91, of Albany had a peaceful departure from this earth on Monday.
Ross was married to Priscilla Johnston for 65 years. They had four marvelous children: Danon, Rand, Brian and Martha. Their marriage was one of kindness, caring and compassion. Those traits flow through their children and those who knew them.
He was a Marine Corps B-25 bomber pilot during World War II. He flew 29 strikes in the South Pacific and won the Distinguished Flying Cross the same medal that John Glenn won for being the first American to orbit the earth. Ross remained in the Marine Corps Reserves for 18 years after the war.
He worked for years at Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany. At the time of his retirement he was interviewed and asked what his greatest accomplishments were in life. Without hesitation he said that outside of being married to Priscilla, his greatest accomplishment was that all four of his children went to college.
Ross was a remarkable man. Anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him was a better person for it.
