THORNVILLE - Ruth D. Lattimer, 59, of Thornville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Ruth was born on Oct. 2, 1946, in Marietta to the late Howard and Gertrude (Handschumaker) Gerken. She was a graduate of Ohio University and Ashland University, where she received a master's degree. Ruth taught for 34 years at Sheridan High School. She is survived by her sons, Nate Lattimer (Molly Fearon) of Memphis, Tenn., and Clay (Amber) Lattimer of Heath, Ohio; brother, Ron (Barbara) Gerken of Vermilion, Ohio; sister, Shelby (Richard) Arnold of Waterford, Ohio; step mother-in-law, Doris Lattimer of Glenford, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Lattimer in 2001. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville, Ohio, with Pastor Dave Helser officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Highland Cemetery, Glenford. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth Lattimer's memory to the Sheridan High School Scholarship Fund, 8600 Sheridan Rd. NW, Thornville, OH 43076.
