Irene Ketterling
August 19, 1926 - June 21, 2014
Irene Ketterling, 87, Jamestown, ND died Saturday June 21, 2014 at the Ave Maria Village in Jamestown, ND.
Irene Speidel was born August 19, 1926 at Ashley, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Marie (Aipperspach) Speidel. She attended the local school where she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood in the vicinity.
She and Edwin Ketterling were married April 12, 1957 at Bismarck, ND. They made their home 10 miles North of Zeeland where they farmed. She did babysitting, gardening and seamstress work. Following the death of her husband November 12, 1984 she stayed on the farm until 1985 when she moved to Jamestown where she did seamstress work.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Zeeland where she was a Sunday school teacher, Ladies Aid, the Homemakers Club and a 4-H Club Leader.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Susan Kaye Alvira, Jamestown, ND; Margaret (Jay) Estvold, Lakota, ND; Gina (Clyde Fey) Ketterling, Ashley, ND; Lisa (Tom) Schauer, Bismarck, ND; 4 grandchildren, Nick Alvira, Emily Schauer, Katrina Schauer, Ann Estvold; 1 great grandchild, Zack Alvira; and 2 sister-in-laws, Ruth Speidel and Wilma Speidel, both of Bismarck, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons, Randolf and Ryan, 2 brothers, Marvin and Wilbert.
