Ring in 1944 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Tholen was a security officer for the state of Illinois, a co-owner and operator of Tholen and Brown Marathon Station for many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a member of Church of Our Saviour and Knights of Columbus. Survivors: wife, Mary H.; three sons, Dan (wife, Pegge) Tholen of Fort Worth, Texas, Thomas (wife, Debi) Tholen of Jacksonville and Chuck Tholen of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Joan (husband, Les) Lunsmann of McHenry, five grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and a sister, Barbara Slaby of Pinellas Park, Fla. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, Church of Our Saviour, Jacksonville. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jacksonville. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
