LYONS - George A. Frey, 86, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. He was born May 17, 1925, in Burlington, to the late George Michael and Catherine (nee: Jung) Frey. On October 25, 1958 in Dubuque, Iowa, George was united in marriage to Joyce Stine. Following marriage they resided in Honey Creek. George and Joyce have made their home in Lyons for the past 51 years. George spent his early life and received his education in Burlington. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. George worked as a Welder for Local 118 in Racine and was a lifetime member of the Local 118 Pipefitters Union. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington. He loved hunting pheasant, deer and duck and enjoyed trap shooting. George was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and loved to tease everyone. He loved his grandchildren dearly. George was a very diligent person and a fighter till the end. Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Frey; their children, George Michael 'Mike' Frey of Oceanside, Calif., Gwenn Joyce Frey of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., Joy Lynn Alma (Timothy) Collins of Twin Lakes, and Darlene (Bob) Bayer of Waterford; grandchildren, Troy (Erin) Collins of Lilly Lake, Sean Collins of Twin lakes, James 'Jacob' Frey-Collins of Cummings, Ga., Jessica Frey-Collins of Cummings, Ga., Steven Bayer of New Munster and Julie (Michael) Zwolinski of Hartland; and by a great-granddaughter, Savannah Rasinskis. George is further survived by siblings, Kathleen Thom of Rhinelander, Aileen Remer of Burlington, Joan May of Franklin, and Phyliss (Claude) Robers of Burlington; sisters-in- law, Dorie Frey of Burlington, Jean Stine of Waupaca, and Dora West of Hayward; brothers-in- law, Willis 'Bud' Stine of Oshkosh and Victor (Carol) Stine of Greenville, S.C.; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Joseph A. Frey and James A. Frey; siblings, Dolores (George) Borgo, Mary (Frank) McNarma, and Paul Frey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lon and Alma Stine; and by brothers-in-law, Bernie Thom, Kenneth Remer, Edward May, and Wayland Stine. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Timms officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Hudson Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to George's wife, Joyce, for her love and dedication as well as to Dr. Kokat for all the care he gave to George.
