Dan Glaser
The Mass of Christian burial for Dan K. Glaser, age 94 of Mott will be held at 10:00am MT, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. Charles Zins will officiate with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00pm on Friday followed by a Rosary and Wake Service at 7:00pm on Friday evening, all at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott.
DAN K. GLASER was born on July 11, 1919 to Kasper and Cecilia (Barth) Glaser on the family farm northeast of Mott, known then as the St. Placidus area. As a young man, Dan worked on the farm with his father except for a brief time spent in the Seattle area working in a lumber mill. Not caring much for the city life, Dan returned to North Dakota to resume life as a farmer. Joining Dan was Jeanette Van Lishout. Dan and Jeanette were married November 14, 1944, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott; moving just 3 miles south of the family farm to start their life together. In a few years, Dan and Jeanette once again moved, this time just two miles south where they made their home and raised a family of six children.
Dan worked hard providing for his family, instilling in his children a strong work ethic. Always striving to choose the right, his life stood as a strong testament of quiet faith. While a man of few words, his devotion and dedication to his beloved wife and family could be clearly seen throughout his life by his actions. You would find Dan everyday of the week caring for his livestock and crops. Dan favored John Deere tractors and the joy of purchasing a new car.
Dan especially loved horses and enjoyed riding and training them. Sundays were always spent attending Mass at St. Placidus, followed by a family dinner and then visiting with neighbors and friends.
In 1975 Dan and Jeanette retired from farming and moved into Mott; however you would still find Dan driving to the farm everyday ""just to see what was going on."" Dan passed from this life on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Mott Good Samaritan Society.
Dan is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Jeanette; one brother Henry; his children, James, Joanne (Donn) Hoyt; David, John (Sandy); Jane (Randy) Schaible; June (David) Grubb; seven grandchildren, Jerry, Jackie, Janelle, Courtney, Katharine, Ryan and Kellen; and six great-grandchildren, Dillon, Madison, Connor, Brady, Jaina and Lydia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Margaret, Ann and Rose; one brother, Simon and infant twins Elizabeth and Frank; and son-in- law Donn.
Dan will greatly be missed by his wife Jeanette and family.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mott.
