James T. VanHyfte 64 of Annawan passed away Friday, March 16, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan. Rev. Timothy Sauppe will celebrate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. Visitation will be from 2-7 pm Sunday at Vandemore Funeral Home LTD, Atkinson; where a Rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm. Memorials may be left to Kewanee Hospital Hospice, or the Annawan Kiwanis Club.
Jim was born on December 31, 1942 in Kewanee, IL the son of John and Elaine (DeMink) VanHyfte. He was a 1960 graduate of Annawan High School and attended Midstate College of Commerce and Black Hawk College. Jim was united in marriage to Carole Jones in 1964 in Kewanee, IL he later married Patricia Thurwanger August 7, 1982 in Annawan. He was a lifetime farmer in rural Annawan and was the second generation to own and operate VanHyfte Auctioneering and Real Estate and Appraisal Co. He also was a former partner of the Kewanee Sale Barn, Kewanee. Jim was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Annawan, Knights of Columbus, Sheffield, and Annawan Kiwanis Club. He received the designation of Master Farmland Appraiser. Jim enjoyed having coffee with friends, antiquing, and his Thursday night card games. He also enjoyed gardening, birds, history and collecting antique farm toys.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant son, and 2 brother-in-laws Keith Noard and Lawrence Rosebeck.
