Mr. Surritt will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Carl was born on Jan. 17, 1920 in Atchison, KS. the son of Roy Grover and Mary (Smith) Surritt. He graduated from Atchison High School. Mr. Surritt owned and operated the former Surritt Garage in Atchison. He was married to Velma Bidding on Oct. 1, 1940. Mrs Surritt preceded him in death on Aug 23, 1960. After Velmas death, he relocated to California. There he married Maria Martin in l980. They later divorced. He relocated to St. Joseph, MO, and was employed by the St. Joseph Convention & Visitors Center. Survivors include two sons; Carl (Carolyn) Surritt, Atchison, KS, and Thomas (Heidi) Surritt, St. Joseph, MO, a daughter; Donna Peak, Phoenix, AZ, a brother; Roy Surritt, Monrovia, KS, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. His parents and three sisters also preceded him in death.
