OBITUARY: Event: Obituary Note: 000090 Wegmann - Monsignor Raymond A. Wegmann, Pastor Emeritus Of St. Rita Parish, Died Friday At St. Rita's Rectory Of Cancer. He Was 75. Monsignor Wegmann Was Born In New Orleans And Had Lived In New Orleans For 42 Years. He Graduated From St. Aloysius High School In 1933 And Went On To St. Joseph Seminary College And Notre Dame Seminary. He Was Ordained In 1940 By Archbishop Joseph Francis Rummel. After Serving As Assistant Pastor At Several New Orleans Parishes, He Went To Catholic University Of America In Washington, D.C., Where He Received His Licentiate In Canon Law In 1948. He Then Returned To New Orleans, Where He Was Named Vice Chancellor Of The Archdiocese While Also Serving As Assistant Pastor At St. James Major Church. In 1954, He Was Named A Papal Chamberlain With The Title Of Monsignor. He Served As Acting Financial Secretary Of The Archdiocese, During Which Time He Oversaw Construction Of The Archdiocesan Administration Building And The Early Stages Of The Four Archdiocesan High Schools - Shaw, Blenk, Rummel And Chapelle. He Served As A Judge In The Marriage Tribunal And Was Responsible For Organizing The Catholic Lawyers' Guild. He Was Also A Board Member Of The Archdiocesan Corporation, Chairman Of The Pension And Infirm Priests' Fund, Chairman Of The Fund Development Committee And A Member Of The Parish Boundaries Commission. In 1966, He Was Appointed Pastor Of St. Rita Parish And Became Director Of The Newly Established Archdiocesan Cemeteries Corporation. He Retired From His Position At St. Rita's In 1987 And Assumed The Title Of Pastor Emeritus. A Mass Will Be Said Tuesday At 2 P.M.
