Jerome G. Werne
Jerome G. Werne, age 87, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 4:35 a.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born June 8, 1925 in Ferdinand, Indiana to William and Mayme (Hedinger) Werne. Jerome was united in marriage to Lovie C. Jones on May 29, 1948 at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad. He worked in the construction industry most of his life and was the retired owner/operator of Werne Construction.
Jerome was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and enjoyed working in his woodworking shop and playing golf. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He participated in military campaigns in the Pacific Theatre/Guam and in the occupation of China in 1946. He was preceded in death by: one son, Timothy Werne; three brothers ? Gilbert, Linus and Arthur Werne; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jerome G. Werne will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary?s Cemetery (Huntingburg). Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Shared Abundance or the Dubois/Spencer Co. Special Olympics.
