MARION -- Joseph A. "Joe" Burgermeister, 81, formerly of Chicago and Florida, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at home.
He was born April 26, 1929, in Chicago.
Beloved husband of Eleanor (Tuliglowski) Burgermeister, whom he married Nov. 14, 1953, loving father of Glenn (Marrianne) Burgermeister of Plainfield, Linda (Louie) Szynkowski of Pittsburgh and Paul (Peggy) Burgermeister of Naperville, adored grandfather of nine; cherished great-grandfather of two; devoted son of the late Joseph, Sr. and Edith Burgermeister.
Joe served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He flew 81 missions in an F-86 Sabre jet and was honorably discharged as a 1st lieutenant. Joe loved to fish.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, in St. Irene Catholic Church, 28W.531 Warrenville Road, Warrenville, IL 60555. Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the church.
