He was the mayor of the Jasper, Indiana from January 1, 1980 thru December 31, 1991; served on the Dubois County Council from 1993 to 2001, as Bainbridge Township Trustee from 1967-1979, and many years on the city park board.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob J. and Anna T. (Rasche) Alles as well as his wife, the former Annie Hoffman. Mr Alles and his bride were married in St. Meinrad Abbey Catholic Church on May 22, 1947. Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Hilary, Oliver, James, Norbert, Edward and Charles Alles.
