Note: From the Herald, Monday, Feb. 21, 1955: "Stroke Feb. 2 Proves Fatal to August Wehr - August Wehr, 75, a Bainbridge township farmer, died at 11:40 P.M. Saturday in Memorial Hospital, where he was removed after suffering a stroke on February 2. He was born March 3, 1879, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth Wehr near Celestine. He operated a farm in what is known as the Wehr bottom, at the site of the recently-constructed new bridge, until 1944, when he moved onto a 40-acre tract in the Holy Family parish area. Since then he had raised strawberries and engaged in truck farming. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hubert Bonifer of St. Anthony and Mrs. Sylvester Bockelman of Jasper; a brother, Martin, of St. Anthony; one sister, Mrs. Coletta Kordes of Louisville; and 14 grandchildren. He wife, the former Clara Alles, died in 1943. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Mary Knust and Mrs. Elizabeth Burke, and by four brothers, Henry, Herman, Edward and Joe Wehr. Services will be held in Holy Family Parish Church at 8 A.M. Tuesday, followed by burial in Fairview cemetery."
