Edward C. Gustely, 75, of Healdsburg, Calif., died May 2, 1999. He was born in Detroit, Mich., on May 7, 1923, but spent his growing up years in Akron. He received his high-school diploma from West High School, a B.Sc. degree in chemistry from the University of Akron, a M.Sc. degree from Purdue University, and his M.B.A. from M.I.T. He was a member of Lamba Chi Alpha Fraternity. He worked for the Standard Oil Co. of Whiting, Ind., Aero Jet General of Azuza, Calif., General Tire's Plastic Division of Marion, Ind., and ended his career as manager of quality control for the Kaiser Aluminum Co. of Oakland, Calif. Mr. Gustely was a combat infantry officer in the 7th Division in France during World War II. He served in the Army Quartermaster Corps at Pusan, South Korea, during the Korean War, and served 20 years in the Army Quartermaster Reserve. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris. His survivors include children, Carol of Germany, Jo Ellen, Scott, Mark of California, Jon of Mexico City; three granddaughters; sister, Pauline of Cheveland Heights; brother, Stan of Cuyahoga Falls.
