Kasper, 87, of McHenry and formerly of Crystal Lake, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at Centegra Hospital - McHenry. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Chicago, to Joseph and Louise (Halas) Kasper. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served on the U.S.S. Saratoga during World War II. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for many years. He also was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. He is survived by his grandson, Thomas (Kristine) Kasper; and his great-grandchildren, Kassandra and Kyle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; and his daughter, Minerva. Services were private for the family.
