Birth: Jan. 29, 1903 Saint Anthony Morton County North Dakota, USA Death: Jul. 16, 2002 Bismarck Burleigh County North Dakota, USA Anna Haider, 99, Bismarck, died July 16, 2002, at a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Edwin Wehner officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in St. Anthony Cemetery, St. Anthony. Anna (Leingang) Haider was born at St. Anthony to George and Appolonia (Kuntz) Leingang on Jan. 29, 1903. She married Joe Haider on June 5, 1923, at St. Anthony. They farmed near St. Anthony until 1958, then retired and moved to St. Anthony. Anna and Joe continued to live there until 1986. When Joe became ill, they then moved to Bismarck. Joe died Nov. 18, 1986. Joe and Anna's family was selected as the Catholic family of the year in 1971. Anna was a member of St. Maria Verein and Christian Mothers in St. Anthony. Her hobbies were crocheting and embroidering. Anna had a great sense of hospitality; when visited, she enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Her spiritual life was very important, saying the daily rosary and going to Mass whenever possible. She found comfort in reading religious books. Her priority was her family and sharing her love with her grandchildren. Anna took great pride is being able to remember all her grandchildren by name. Anna is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Tillie and George, all of Mandan, Hubert and Darlene and Dennis and Darlene, all of Bismarck, and Arnie and Angie, Galesburg, Ill.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rose Haider, Minnie and Victor Schmidt and Lillian and Richard Sturn, all of Bismarck; 33 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Leingang, Bismarck. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joe; a son, Joseph; a daughter-in-law, Maggie Haider; three brothers, Alex, Frank and Joe; four half-sisters; one half-brother; and her parents.
