Ben M. Wells Jr.
March 22, 1933-June 1, 2004
A funeral service for Ben M. Wells Jr., 71, of Newark, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Spring Hills Baptist Church, 1820 Newark-Granville Road, with the Rev. Detective Cliff Biggers and Pastor Jeff Pound officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery, followed by a military graveside service.
Mr. Wells died June 1, 2004, at the Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born March 22, 1933, in Washington, W.Va., to the late Ben M. and Ella (Seabaugh) Wells Sr.
Mr. Wells retired from the Newark Police Department after serving 25 years as a Newark Police Detective. He was a member of Spring Hills Baptist Church, past member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 127, he recently worked for the Licking County Aging Program, and he was a U.S. Air force and Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Wilson) Wells; daughter, Barbara (Ron) Fisher of Granville; two grandsons, Joshua and Jon Fisher, both of Granville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
