Birth: Jun. 18, 1868 Bergdorf Transnistria Territory, Moldova Death: Oct. 17, 1940 Deer Lodge Powell County Montana, USA Philipp BENDER born 18 June 1868 in Chutor Besrukowa near Bergdorf, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia was the son of Christian BENDER and Magdalena Johanna HOFF. Philipp married Katherine BOSHA in 1896 probably in Bergdorf, Glueckstal, Odessa, South Russia. This union was blessed with no less than 9 children; Katherine, Magdalena, Rosina, Margaret, Carolina, Adam, Fred, Freda and Molly. Philipp at the age of almost 37 with his wife Katherine and their children; Katherine, Magdalena, Rosina and Margaret, immigrated to America via Glasgow, Scotland on the 3rd of June 1905, aboard the SS "Columbia" and arrived at Ellis Island, New York on the 12th of June 1905. His final destination was recorded as Hebron, North Dakota to join his brother, John BENDER. The Philipp BENDER family initially settled on a homestead (¼ Sec 18, Twp 140N, Rge 91W, W5) in Stark County, North Dakota, then moved to Washington State around 1920.
