Charles Jerold Silliman, 76, of Kingsport, TN, died Saturday, January 5, 2002 in Kingsport. He was a retired self-employed mason/contractor and a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Kingsport. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Silliman of Louisville, KY and two brothers, John and Robert Silliman, both of Louisville, KY. Survivors: his wife, Grayce Carlene Ashley Silliman of Kingsport; a son, Kenneth Craig Hyder of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Lessa Cantey and her husband, Chris, of Kingsport and Jonie Garrick of Kingsport; five special grandchildren, Ben and Amy Hyder, Dylan Cantey, Aryn Lawless and a very special grandson, Luke Robinson; sisters, Jean Bodenbender and her husband, Bud, of Louisville, Marilyn Badgett and her husband, Louis, of North Vernon, IN, Marie Carrico and her husband, Thomas, of North Vernon, IN and Patricia Deddens and her husband, Eugene, of Louisville; and a brother, Paul Silliman and his wife, Anna, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2002, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 N. John B. Dennis Hwy. in Kingsport, TN, with Fr. Charles Burton officiating. Military services will be conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3 at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN. There will be no visitation. Carter-Trent Funeral Homes, 520 Watauga St. in downtown Kingsport, TN, is in charge of arrangements (423-245-4101). Donations may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 N. John B. Dennis Hwy., Kingsport, TN 37662.
