  [S927] Obituary. ROSS, Mary Josephine, 97, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, March 9 at Valley Hospice Care North in Steubenville, Ohio. She was born on February 12, 1913, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Josephine Bierkortte Letzelter. Mary is also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Joseph Cross, on January 4, 1966; one brother, Charles "Bud" Letzelter; one sister, Rose Matta; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Cross. She retired from Eagle Manufacturing and was a long-time member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Wellsburg. A devoted mother and grandmother, she leaves behind two sons, A. Joseph (Barbara) Cross Jr., of The Villages, Fla., and Charles "Chuck" (Kathy) Cross of Wellsburg; two brothers, Lloyd Letzelter and Jack (Ruby) Letzelter, both of Steubenville, Ohio; two sisters, Georgia Brooks of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and Barbara Steele of Steubenville; seven grandchildren, Lorrie (Richard) White, Susan (Leonard) Miller, Mary (Chad) Ritchey, Michael (Lisa) Cross, Sharon Cross, Chuck (Linda) Cross, and Gina Nale; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 12 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Vincent Joseph as celebrant. Interment will follow in Kadesh Chapel Cemetery in Beech Bottom, W.Va. Christian wake services will be held on Thursday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
