This may get lengthy so I am sending it directly to you. This is about
Johannes Witzel (125785) and Maria Barbara Weber. His birthdate is shown
as 1807 in the database, which is the date shown on his gravestone.
However that appears to be a bit old for someone who fathered a child in
1865. Actually it appears that he was born May 4, 1816, in Bremen,
Saxe-Weimar, Deutschland. His death notice said he was aged 82 years, 2
months and 15 days and calculating back from his date of death (July 20,
1898) results in the 1816 date. One census shows him as 49 and a city
directory shows him as age 59 ten years later. Both seem to confirm the
1816 date. Johannes' father was Valentine and his mother was Josephine
(last name unknown). They had 3 children that I know of, Barbara,
Catherine and Johannes. Incidently, sometimes their family name was
spelled, Weitzal. Maria Barbara Weber (also Barbara Mary) was born in
Tauberbishofsheim (also Tauberbis'heim), Baden, Deutschland according to
my information, to Killian and Catherine (last name unknown) about
1828. She married Johannes Witzel May 5, 1853 at St. Joseph's Church (the
German Parish) in Rochester. She died June 29, 1903 in Gates, Monroe Cty,
NY. Johannes had been married to Cresentia Staud but she died after, I
believe, two years sometime in 1852. I believe they had no children. I
believe that is enough for now. I will try not to fill your website with
