Henry D. 'Red' Synan ZANESVILLE- Henry D. "Red" Synan, 96, of Zanesville, died at 3:44 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Genesis Good Samaritan ICU. He was born Oct. 14, 1909, in Zanesville, the son of the late William and Anna Hickey Synan. Henry retired after 42 years of service as sales manager with the Roekel Co. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council 505. He was also a 25-year member of the Zanesville Country Club and an avid golfer having golfed up to the age of 90, and shooting his age when he was 77. ADVERTISEMENT Henry is survived by his loving 69-year wife of the home, Clara D. Malone Synan, whom he married Feb. 8, 1937. He is also survived by five children, Mary Ann (John) Armstrong of Coshocton, Patricia (William) Potter of West Lafayette, Daniel (Carole) Synan of Troy, Joseph (Susan) Synan of Houston, Texas, and Jane (Robert) Dutro of Lancaster, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Richard Synan of Orlando, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren; a brother, William Synan; and a sister, Betty J. Courtis. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 29, at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., with the Christian vigil service at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, with Father Leo L. Connolly as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Nicholas Catholic Church or Bishop Fenwick School.
